Tucked away on the corner of Austin’s iconic South Congress “SoCo” neighborhood, the Frame Hotel offers a serene escape for those who prioritize peace, privacy and views luxury as a state of calm and comfort. With convenient check-in and keyless entry, there’s no need to worry about small talk or waiting in lines. Some people prefer to deal with as few people as possible—and this retreat is perfect for that. You’re not dealing with anyone but yourself. Just you and a simple, stress-free arrival.
You’ll receive a text before your arrival with all the details you’ll need to access the hotel and your room. (Entry is granted via access code).
As soon as you step foot on the property, you’re immediately put in a relaxed state of mind. The warm wood slat walls and entryway leading to the tranquil Koi pond set the tone for relaxation as you listen to the waterfall flow peacefully and birds chirping in the garden.
Speaking of which—the garden is a sweet spot you may find yourself at often. The space is surrounded by lush greenery, cafe tables nestled throughout, and cozy furniture that invite relaxation. The gentle sound of the waterfall flowing makes the atmosphere even more peaceful. I certainly enjoyed getting some work done out there.
This boutique retreat has 20 chic suites, all of which have their own private spacious lanais that serve as a transition space between the inside and outside—one of my favorite features. I loved having the option to sit outside and soak up the sunshine while still enjoying my privacy. Whether it’s a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at sunset, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and savor the peace and quiet.
The warm lighting and modern amenities certainly set the vibe for unwinding in your temporary comfort space. I appreciated the spa-like bathrooms, especially the rainfall shower and the natural light that streamed in through the windows—making the space feel bright and airy.
The Malin + Goetz bath products, like the peppermint shampoo, cilantro conditioner, and rum body wash, were an unexpected but fun touch. They smell way better than you’d think—promise!
Every detail was chosen with deep care, and the artwork throughout the space is not just for show, it’s also available to buy. From the quality of the sferra fine linens to the bold art paintings and custom oak built-in furniture, the founders really put their all into it. They tried everything out themselves and wouldn’t put anything out here if they didn’t like it themselves.
I’ll also add that, while there’s no traditional room service, you can easily make special requests via text—whether it’s for cleaning your room or restocking amenities. The founders respond super quickly to any questions you have, and even if you ask something after business hours, a helpful automated system will still get back to you.
At The Frame Hotel, it feels like you’re staying in your own private, peaceful oasis, yet your steps away from amazing restaurants, fun shopping, lively bars, and everything in between you need for a memorable weekend on Congress.
The hotel is in a prime location, so there’s plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. For lunch or dinner, grab a burger from Hopdoddy’s, pizza from Homeslice, or tacos from Güero’s, and for dessert, Amy’s or Jeni’s Ice Creams always hits the spot. Go shopping for some boots, hand-crafted jewelry, or cowboy hats. Kendra Scott is also around the corner if you’re looking for jewelry. Or commit to nothing, and just walk down South Congress to take in all the energy and action of the city.
I’d also recommend checking out the Frame Hotel-SoCo’s neighboring sister property Frame Hotel–Treehouse. Located just across the street from one another, Frame Hotel – Treehouse just recently had a full renovation done of its seven rooms and suites, as well as new world-class boutique amenities just as the Frame Hotel has. The star of this hotel is in the name, as the courtyard’s multi-level deck is tucked under a canopy of oak trees, giving the feel of a modern treehouse for adults.
Rates at Frame Hotel–SoCo start at $395+ per night and $345+ per night at Frame Hotel–Treehouse.
So next time you’re in Austin looking for a peaceful retreat that also has access to the vibrant city life, you know exactly where to go.
