Born in New York City, David Needleman always knew he wanted to be a photographer. And from a young age, he was determined to work as one. Inspired by the people in his life from early on, David focused on portraiture. He’s pursued his love of capturing moments and communicating his subjects’ unique perspectives and personalities ever since.

After graduating from the School of Visual Arts, David spent much of the first decade of his career working for and studying under fashion photographer, Steven Meisel — a mentorship that provided him the invaluable experience to stake out on his own.

In the decade since, David has contributed celebrity portraiture to publications from L'Uomo Vogue, Interview, Vanity Fair, Esquire, L'Officiel Italia and Out Magazine, to The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal Magazine and more.

David has also collaborated with TV networks and artists on a range of campaigns and album covers, as well as with premium retailers. He’s delivered art for clients including Republic Records, Warner Brothers, Showtime Networks, Verve Records, Capitol Records, Universal Music Group, CBS, Net-A-Porter, Saks 5th Avenue, Dior, McCann, MGM and more.

David and his husband, Evan, live in New York...along with their cockapoo, Irving.
